A Practice with History
Peterborough Veterinary Clinic has been a privately owned animal hospital in the community for nearly 50 years. Peterborough is a close community that values the importance of small local businesses.
The clinic’s founder, Dr. Ingram, sold it to Dr. June Sailor-O’Day with the intention of keeping it a community business for people and their beloved pets. Dr. June has carried the torch for nearly 30 years and was ready to retire.
After practicing in several areas of NH, Dr. Estle moved home to her family’s farm in Bennington with her husband and 2 daughters in 2016. It was her dream to have a private practice in the Monadnock region. After several failed attempts (repeatedly being outbid by corporate buyers) Dr. Estle was hoping to build her own practice. Meanwhile, Dr. June was repeatedly declining offers from corporations as she desperately wanted to keep PVC private!
With care being transferred to Dr. Estle, PVC became Private Roots Veterinary, symbolizing her move back home and fending off the corporate takeover in the industry!
About the Practice
After establishing the practice Dr Ingram retired and passed the torch to Dr June O’Day who has been the owner and sole practitioner for over 30 years.
As Dr. June began to consider retirement she knew that PVC needed the right veterinarian to take her place.
With corporate buyouts of local veterinary hospitals increasing rapidly, it became clear that the clinic needed to remain privately owned to continue to provide consistent care to our clients and patients. Dr. Jen Estle proved to be that person.
Dr. Estle was born and raised in Bennington, New Hampshire on her family’s 60+ acre farm. She has recently moved back to raise her girls in the beautiful Monadnock region.
Dr. Estle received her Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island. Since graduating in 2008 she has worked at a high-paced general practice where she was a lead surgeon and general medicine veterinarian, gaining a strong foundation in all areas of general practice and emergency medicine. She then worked as Director of Reproductive Services and associate veterinarian at Ponemah Veterinary Hospital. During her employment with Ponemah it was sold to a large corporation. It quickly became clear to Dr. Estle that working for a large corporation did not match her values.
For the past decade, Dr. Estle has become passionate about small local business ownership and has made it her goal to become a private practitioner in the Peterborough area.
Her goal is to provide kind, quality care to animals while establishing honest, lasting relationships with their owners.
We hope you will join the PVC family and help support a trustworthy local business.
We aim to be Your Forever Vet!
